Croatian Stamps

Album published by "Domovina" in 1963

The cover is in more maroon color, and less orange than it appears on this scan. Imprint is in gold letterpress.

Please note that there is no white and red print in the Coat of Arms like Ministers' albums have.

Title page includes "Nezavisna Drzava Hrvatska" and "Izdanja u izbjeglictvu". It means NDH and Exile issues. "Domovina" is a publishing company, nice logo is a crown of King Zvonimir. Year 1963. There are both cities Madrid and Buenos Aires listed because stamps in album were issued there. But album was published in Madrid.

There are pictures of stamps and sheets printed in gray on pages. Not really all of them, but mainly they are. Please note a pair of stamps from 1934. How nice! Also, there is not a "Fieldpost" overprinted stamp included. It is not listed in any catalogue by NDH publishers. Mr. Ercegovic who is the most respected specialist for Croatian stamps wrote in his masterpiece book that "Fieldpost" overprint appeared on market in late 1945, after communists took over the country. He believes it is a private issue or better say a forgery done by another enthusiast.

This is the last illustrated page and one of the most interesting pages in this album. It lists Exile issues but only those from 1951, 1955, 1958, 1959 and three "Europa" issues - 1960, 1961 and 1962 since album was made in 1963.
It is interesting that black 30kn from 1951 and issues from 1952, 1953 and from March 1961 are not included.
Europa 1960 and Europa 1961 have swaped illustrations.
